Pray Maker Council, Editor

I’m a native of sunny California who ended up nestled in the sometimes-snowy heart of Kansas. Married for more than 20 years to an adorably funny man named Owen, I am a freelance writer by trade, though I also pen children’s books. I am Catholic; however, I feel strongly that faith is more important than affiliation. Any road that leads a person to Ultimate Goodness is the right road.

I’ve had a special affinity for prayer from the start: My mother went into labor during Mass on Christmas Day—five weeks before her due date! I pray constantly, at all times of the day. Really, it’s an ongoing conversation. My husband says my prayers are powerful, and while that’s gratifying, I know that the power lies with the Divine. I can only hope to do my best with the talent God has given me.

Which of course, leads us here. When I saw the ad for Prayables, I knew it was kismet. Prayers are really just poems—powerful poems, to be sure, but poems. I know prayer, and I know poetry. Bringing the two together has been the most wondrous blessing to me! As Emily Dickinson wrote, “If I can ease one heart the aching, I shall not have lived in vain.” So true!
