Pray Maker Council

Ask me about myself.  I’ll tell you I’m a writer and a mother.  A wife, a daughter, and a sister.  I’ve worked as an archaeological illustrator, a nanny, and a research historian.
Given the nature of this site, you probably want to know about my Faith.  I’m Presbyterian.
I grew up going to Sunday school and Bible school and pasting pictures in Christian sticker books with a great aunt.  Even today, no week feels complete without Sunday worship, united with the congregation in prayer, our voices raised to the rafters in song. But that’s worship. Faith is quiet and personal. I hold it close to my heart.

I’m also curious the way a redwood is tall. My curiosity eventually overcame the quiet nature of my Faith.  By college, I was asking others about what they believed and seeing the common threads running through Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Jainism and Baha’i.  This strengthened my own Faith. Still I worried about my ho hum prayer life.  I prayed in worship and sent up frequent pleas for help.  What eluded me were lengthy sessions of quiet contemplation.  Then I read about walking meditation.  Recognizing my need for movement came as a breakthrough. When I saw the ad for Prayables, I thought of my women friends and their requests for prayers for their children, their husbands and themselves. I thought of my own evolution in prayer. I took a break from my Christmas preparations and wrote a prayer.  The rest . . . as they say . . . is history.
