I am Maltese – and that explains a lot about me. I am a Catholic by conviction, albeit also by birth. I am somewhat insular and yet flamboyant at the same time... as befits a person with a genetic pool to which many peoples have contributed over the years, living on an Island Republic bang in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. My first (handwritten!) feature was published in a national newspaper when I was 14 years old, but since then, besides writing, I have worked as a clerk in the public service, a kindergarten assistant, and a learning assistant with children who have different needs. This has helped me as much as much as I have helped others.
The reason why I prefer not to show my face is the same reason why I prefer radio over television. It is said that the pictures on radio are much better. I want people to evaluate me upon what I do and say and write, not upon what I
look like.
As for prayer, it is my staff helping me to get through the tough times and the joyous ones with my feet on the ground, notwithstanding that my head is often in the clouds. I believe that faith is akin to my motto:
"Do as you would be done by."
