Cha-Ching: When Pray Pays

Blogs - Chief of Pray Blog

Susan_before_Google_conferenceGod is reading my mind a lot these days. Some people call it “pennies from heaven.” You know what I mean, when there are signs of God’s presence in a coincidence or timely happening. My riches began mid-day Friday. I was struggling to figure out Google AdWords and how I can drive traffic to the Prayables website through keyword advertising. I googled google and found there was a certified training workshop that is offered in different cities throughout the U.S. There is only one session scheduled in each city over the course of the year. The starting date is the upcoming Monday and there was an opening. Cha-ching.

Saturday mornings I go to synagogue. It was a gorgeous sunny day in Chicago. I rode my bike to Congregation Beth Shalom; my “old synagogue.” Rabbi Wolkin led a beautiful service. We used a prayer book, new to me, called Siddur Ait Ratzon (The Right Time for Prayer). Being a professional pray pusher, I appreciate a good prayer book, and this one is stellar. I was sitting in the pew thinking how soon I would be able to get over to the book store, when the Rabbi called me out and said; “Susie, keep the book. It’s a gift to you.” Cha-ching.

Sunday was Father’s Day and we celebrated with my Dad, my husband who is a Dad and my son who is a Dad. Four generations eating BBQ together. My grandson Jake lost his first tooth the night before and found pennies from heaven (in the form of a dollar bill) under his pillow. Cha-ching.

Pennies from heaven, lucky breaks or blessings. Does it matter? I only know that when I share the everyday routine of my business life, my social life and my family life with God, more and better things happen.

Seismic Shifts

I believe in magic and miracles.
I believe that You said it, and that settles it.
Everything comes to me at just the right time,
in symmetry, in synchronicity, in Your time.

I await You in perfect repose.
There is nothing more that needs to be done.
No furious flailing, no sackcloth and ashes.

I remember my prayer- not even a year ago:
"Make me stronger."
You revealed to me the unerring equation:
Hardship + Prayer = Steel

Help me to stand on my own two feet
and, at the same time, lean fully on You.
