of welcoming creativity into my daily life.

Give me the time I need

to embrace the side of myself

that brings joy and inspiration

into the lives of others.

Your guidance gives me

the strength to go after what I want,

even if it is in small increments

of time each week.

I feel blessed being able to recognize

the power of these moments

and how quickly they change

my perspective about mundane tasks

like mopping the floor

or paying the electric bill.

Each moment is a blessing.

Fill my day with lightness and laughter.
Let a good mood pervade the air.
Connect us with comedy, puns, limericks.
Take my mind off the tedium of work
and the seriousness of life.
Let me hear a great fish story
or a haiku in pig-Latin.
Knock-knock jokes, silly faces,
whatever it takes to give us that break we need.
Provide us with a fresh perspective
and a sense of camaraderie.
Help us all to play well with others today.

Strength for the Week

strength-for-the-week-prayer As a new week stretches before me,

I look with wonder into the deep well of emotions

You have given Your children.

I pray that I may withdraw enough compassion

to heal anotherʼs broken heart;

enough peace to quell anotherʼs fear;

enough joy to celebrate anotherʼs victory;

enough strength to share anotherʼs burdens,

and enough faith to light a candle in anotherʼs darkness.

Thank You for the assurance You have been given us

that our well will never run dry.

Forgiven for Good

Forgiven for Good

There's a reason the sun rises anew each day.
Every day is a completely clean slate.
Cherry-picking bad memories
and rolling them around in my head all day,
it's hard to remember that I'm already forgiven.
Forever. For good.
Somehow I seem to think
I've got to make amends in perpetuity,
that I need to keep re-living my mistakes
till it blocks the blessings from coming in.
But happiness is really just a habit;
a decision to accept grace and embrace joy.
Make me a work in progress
who actually acknowledges the progress I've made
and the work we've done together.

Walking with You

For now, I'm in the ante-room of life, waiting, WalkingWithYou-Prayer

perusing month-old magazines,
fully expecting You to wave that flag
when the race begins.
Little do I know, it's already fully underway.

Motivate me to see beyond the confines of faith
and to move from waiting on You to walking with You.
I ask that You bless me with self-determination,
and I'll assume that if You gave me the dream,
You want me to make it come true.
