Draw me out again
and show me the community
You've given me.
Make me humble enough
to accept the blessings of others,
bold enough to offer gifts of my own,

to see brilliant streaks of You
throughout this priceless community.

It seems these days that anything goes.
Maybe I'm just ancient because I appreciate relics
like courtesy and modesty.
Maybe I'm not hip,
because I actually like being a lady
You would be proud to claim as Yours.
It doesn't matter to me what the surveys say are "in."
Unlike You, those surveys change
from one day to the next.
As much as I love my freedom,
I only enjoy it when it's anchored in You-
when I'm anchored in You.

It's not fame that I seek,
but a grand opportunity to shine through service.
Isn't that what follows all the buffing and refining?
Shininess. You blow Your warm breath on me,
and then rub-rub-rub.
The lessons and the love
are to restore me with a high-gloss finish
that glistens and reflects You.
Give me the courage to neither shrink
nor cloak the living light You put inside me.

Fragile Emotions

I'm exhausted and feel fragile,
but I can't go home—
he is there.
My thoughts are a jumbled mess,
so I come to You for
comfort, guidance, and clarity.

I ask You:
How to deal with his
accusations, threats, and lies?
As I wait on You,
restore my strength;
open my eyes.

Give me courage to apologize.
I can go home now.
I calmly stand firm.
I am not alone.
