This Amazing Soul

Today, I look upon
our newborn child,
I stare with complete joy
and utter fear.
Joy, because this amazing soul
leaves me breathless with wonder.
Perfect in ways
I never dreamed possible.
But I also feel intense fear.
The responsibility of instilling
tolerance, patience, love and faith
in a world that is starving

for all these virtues.

I feel inadequate.
Can I measure up to what is required of me?
Yes, I feel your presence-
immense calmness.
Knowing You reside inside of me.
You have allowed me to glimpse
at what You must have felt,
during the creation of our universe.

About This Thanksgiving Prayer

There are mixed emotions when you gaze upon a child of your creation. You can be filled with both love and fear, as expressed beautifully, in this prayer by Pay Maker Heidi Haller. How do we deal with the insecurities, how do we give thanks for our blessings? By withdrawing for awhile, and entering into the cradle of your Creator.
