What’s the difference between a wish and a prayer? If you wish you had more money or a better job, you’ve probably spent a fair amount of time praying to make it so.  Look at these examples and see if you recognize the difference between a wish and a prayer.

1.    You ask for world peace.
2.    You ask for strength to make it through a rough time.
3.    You ask for an end to your troubles.

All prayer-worthy—no doubt. #1 is an unselfish request. #2 demonstrates a willingness to get involved. #3 is sincere and very needed. Yet you still don’t have enough information to know if any of the examples are mere wishes or true prayer.

It’s essential for mind, body, and spirit, to be connected to the Creator for prayer to happen.  A prayer must come from an open heart. A prayer must be filled with faith. A prayer is wrapped in love.  

The next time you find yourself wishing for more and better, go with prayer instead!

You are there,
washing the dishes,
answering email,
picking up the mess of an average day.
I wish I could feel You
here with me.

Help me to realize that
You are there
even when I cannot sense You,
that You are the constant in my life.

Where I am today,
there You are.
Where I am tomorrow,
You will be –
mountain, desert, or seaside,
apartment, house, or condo.

You are there waiting for me
to look up,
to look out,
and see.
