Acing the Interview

You can’t make this stuff up. Human Resources professionals shared stories of unusual behavior by job applicants:

"She wore a Walkman and said she could listen to me and the music at the same time."

"A balding candidate abruptly excused himself. Returned to my office a few minutes later, wearing a hairpiece."

Interviewing for a new job is nerve-wracking and exciting at the same time. Possibilities are right there in front of you, solutions to financial woes waiting in the wings. But first you have to get that job. Here are three helpful tips:

1.    Know the company, and why you want to work there

2.    Be prepared to share your goals, accomplishments and failures

3.    Have passion and ask good questions

There are times in life when it’s critical to make a good impression. Give yourself every opportunity to show the “suits” across the desk you are worthy and deserving of the job. You’re a team player with a community behind you, and One divine mentor beside you, guiding you towards success. Go for it!.

The Interview

I want this job.
My mind is whirling
with the sense of possibility,
a heart heavy
with the fear of disappointment.

As I go into my interview,
please keep my head clear of what-if's
and my heart clear of if-only's.
Give me the presence of mind
to present the best part of myself;
and please teach me the self-love necessary
to return home feeling proud of the effort I made.

And when all is said and done,
please fill me with gratitude,
so that, whether I am granted this job
or whether I am led to discover a better fit elsewhere,
I can bring You joyful thanks for opportunities
both hoped for and unimagined.
