The Bedouin chief found out that his favorite turkey had been stolen. He gathered his sons and told them, “Boys, we are in great danger now. My turkey’s been stolen. Find my turkey.”
His sons laughed and said, “Father, it’s only a turkey. We have many.” and they ignored him.
A few weeks later, the Bedouin chief’s camel was stolen. Again, he gathered his sons, told them what happened, and said, “Find my turkey.” The boys said, “You’re still thinking about the dumb turkey?!” Again, they did nothing.
After that, his horse was stolen, and his daughter abducted. His sons asked what to do. “Find my turkey,” the chief said. “It’s all because of the turkey! When the thieves saw that they could take my turkey, they knew they could take anything.”
That’s the Bedouin way, and a lesson for us all. There’s no shame in a show of strength, there are only consequences when you don’t.
