I hope you have wonderful plans today. Whether it’s savoring a longer rest, sleeping in a bit, watching a parade, or having a BBQ.
We are looking forward to some very special family time as we honor the good work of our hands on Labor Day.
I want to encourage you to also honor the labor of the heart—love. From marriage and child-rearing to friendships and neighborly bonds, the labor of love is perhaps the most challenging yet rewarding work we undertake.
Just yesterday, after a long day that began in the early morning and stretched until the golden hour when guests arrived here at our farm, Farmer Jones and I paused to take in the moment. Everything was perfect and perfectly in place.
We realized that this farming journey is a shared endeavor, much larger than ourselves. This adventure has required us to lean on the Unseen Hand of a faithful God, who supports our union every day.
The struggles and joys alike have deepened our dependence on and guidance from the One who wants us to make it even more than we do. We have learned to trust that both trials and blessings work together for our good. This is our experience, as our family grows.
So, today, as we celebrate the labor of love, I encourage you to reflect on the good work of loving, caring for, and serving your family and community. The daily grind, the dirty parts, and the exhausting, often underappreciated efforts are all worth it. They demonstrate that the rewards of relationships are a worthy investment.
