Hello, Friends:
I’m reaching out to you, tired. Last week was rough.
I took the picture above as I was leaving the farm after a week of storms, lost power, canceled plans, and the hospitalization of one of our children. I looked back at the farm and glanced at the high tunnel, still intact. Grace. Naturally, I immediately noticed the way the sky opened up over our farm. It felt like an illustration of being seen and cared for, regardless of the circumstances, by the One who “is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” I drove off, “Thank You for this work. Thank You for beauty. Thank You for the good things. You are great, Lord, simply because of who You are.”
We continue to learn that joy can exist right alongside the hard. The hard is real. Grace does not ask us to pretend otherwise. Grace meets us there and carries us through. We are seen, and we are invited to have an honest conversation with God about what is hard—and to ask Him for help.
There is peace, joy, and life beyond what our present circumstances can explain. Sometimes, when we gather, we catch a glimpse of that truth in the faces of those who have tasted and seen that the Lord is good. It encourages our hearts and gives us what we need to keep moving forward.
This is my hope for you—and for all of us: May this week be a little lighter. May there be breakthroughs, answers to prayer, abundant blessings, and laughter that revives you.
And in those moments when your heart grows suspicious—when you wonder whether you are truly as loved and cared for as it is written—may grace remind you again: You are.
