The pastor gave a rousing sermon about being a soldier in God’s army and encouraged everyone to “fight for the cause.”
After the service, as he was greeting the parishioners on the church steps, he saw Jack.
“Hello Jack, it’s so good to see you. It’s been quite a while since you’ve come to spend the Sabbath with us.”
Jack responded quietly, with a shrug.
The pastor pressed on. “How did you like today’s sermon? Everyone has to be a soldier in the Army of God.”
“It was a very inspiring service, pastor. Thank you.”
“You need to join the Army of God, Jack.”
“I’m already enlisted in the Army of God, sir.”
“How come I don’t see you in church?”
Quietly, Jack whispered, “I’m in the Secret Service.”
