Three people died on the Wednesday before Christmas. They were met by an angel at the pearly gates.
“In honor of this holy season,” the angel said, “You must each possess something that symbolizes Christmas to get into heaven.”
The first man fumbled through his pockets and pulled out a lighter. He flicked it on. “It represents a candle,” he said. “You may pass through the pearly gates,” said the angel.
The second man frantically reached into his pocket and pulled out a set of keys. He shook them and said, “They’re bells.” the angel said, “You may pass through the pearly gates.”
The third was a woman who calmly searched her purse and pulled out her wallet.
The angel looked at her and, with an indignant scowl, said, “Lady, you can not buy your way into heaven.”
To which the woman replied, “Oh no dear, I’m just trying to show you my driver’s license.”
