After a long-winded sermon about morals, bad behavior, and the evils of sinning, the televangelist preacher said to his live audience,
“If there are any sinners in the room, please stand up.”
No one dared to stand. After a long silence, one young man rose to his feet.
“Now, then, mister, why do you consider yourself a sinner?” the preacher inquired with a dramatic flourish.
“Well, actually, I don’t,” said the young man, “but I hate to see you standing up there all by yourself.”
