The highway patrolman pulls over a car on the highway. He approaches the car, and the driver rolls down the window.
He sees it’s an elderly lady at the wheel. “Officer, is there a problem?” she asks.
“Well ma’am, this is a 65-mile-an-hour speed zone you were going 45 miles an hour. It’s just as hazardous to drive too slow on the highway as it is to drive too fast.”
She tells him, “You must be mistaken. I just passed a sign that says 45.”
The patrolman stops for a minute to think, and then he says, “Mam, you’re on Route 45. The speed limit is 65.”
“I’m so sorry officer, I will pick up my speed.”
Before he turns to return to the patrol car, he takes a look and in the backseat. There are three little old ladies not saying a word, white as ghosts, eyes round and terrified. He asks, “Is everyone OK? Do you need an escort to the hospital?”
The driver replied, “Oh they’ll be fine in a minute, we just got off Route 125.”
