This is a story about a pigeon who wanted more.
The pigeon said to the swan, “You’re the most beautiful bird I’ve ever seen. I wish to look like you.”
The swan, “I used to think so myself, but then I saw the parrot with his gorgeous, bold, bright colors.”
So the pigeon went to find the parrot and said to the parrot, “You are the most beautiful bird I have ever seen. I wish to look like you.”
The parrot said I used to think so, until I saw the peacock, whose colors and feathers are even more beautiful than mine.”
The pigeon went and found the peacock and was amazed. “Peacock, you are the most beautiful bird I have ever seen.”
The peacock said that may be true, but because I am so beautiful, I am stuck here in a zoo where people admire me. I don’t have the freedom that you have to go where you want and to do what you want.”
The pigeon looked at the caged bird through different eyes. He waddled around on his little legs with his dirty gray feathers, unadmired, yet unbothered. Free to go and do as he pleased, happy and finally content with the feathers God gave him.
