A wise man was walking down the ancient streets of Jerusalem when he came upon a sick man.
“Wise sage, tell me how I can be cured?” the man asked him.
The wise man advised him about medication and therapeutic methods.
“Tell me, why was I afflicted.” The sick man asked.
“It is God’s will.” He replied.
The man was disturbed by his response. “If it is God’s will, you have interfered. Are you not defying God’s will with your advice?”
The wise man asked, “What is your occupation?”
“I am a farmer,” he said, “See the scythe in my hand.”
“Who created the vineyard?” The wise man countered.
“God.” came the reply.
“Then, do you not feel that you are interfering with God’s creation by using your tools to prune the land?” asked the wise man
“If I do not plow, trim, and fertilize the land, nothing will grow.” He reasoned.
“Sir, have you never heard the verse from Psalms 103:15? ‘As for humans, their days are like grass.’ Just as your fields need nutrients, pruning, and care to thrive, the same is true of the human body.”
