This is a true story.
A young man was parking his car in a parking lot and hit the car next to him. There was damage on the car he hit, so he looked for paper to write this note:
“I’m sorry, I hit your car, and I will pay for the damage.”
He included his contact information on the note and went on to finish his day.
That night, he got a phone call from an older man, the owner of the car he hit.
“I understand that you are the one who hit my car today.”
“That’s right, I am so sorry. Please get an estimate for the repair, and I will reimburse you.”
“I don’t know if you realized it, but I noticed you wrote this note on the back of your bank statement. I couldn’t help but see that you have a negative balance in your account. How can you afford to repay me?”
“I am employed, and I give you my word, I will reimburse you. Thank God, I get a paycheck each week, and you will be reimbursed.”
“Young man, if you give me your paycheck, surely you will not have the resources to provide for your family.”
“Not to worry, we will get by.”
The older man then said this, “Young man, I can well afford to repair my car. You don’t have to reimburse me. Please, continue to take good care of your family.”
A few days later, the young man received a $5,000 check from the man whose car he had hit.
Surely God is in the story.
