It’s a miracle. He is finally divorced. He spent twenty years with his wife, watching his words, gestures, and activities. He was constantly on edge, waiting for the next criticism or sarcastic put-down. There was always a comment, and it was always negative. He lived in fear of his own wife.
He remembers her jealousy.
“You have time to help your brother move, but you don’t have time for me,” she would tell him. Spending time with others meant less time for her. She played a masterful zero-sum game.
But his kindness is not a pie that gets divided until there’s nothing left. It’s the magic bean. It makes things grow, and he has an endless supply of it.
And now, he can fully be the person God meant him to be.
A kind man.
A nice guy.
A good family man.
A good friend.
He goes to work happy. He comes home happy. He spends time with his kids, his friends, and his dog, happy—deliriously happy. Once again, he experiences the tight bond of his guy friends—laughing till your stomach aches, falling all over each other to be there for one another.
His kids straddle both sides. Their mother can’t move on. Their father deserves to be happy.
They work it out. Because when you’re on the right side of a difficult situation, there’s always a right solution.
God provides.
